The Challenge
Kirk Michie has spent 30 years advising founders on deals, equity, and growth decisions. That expertise is the product. The constraint is time — there are only so many hours Kirk can spend on calls.
The goal was to make Kirk's thinking available on demand. Not a generic AI chatbot. Something that reasons the way Kirk reasons, asks the questions Kirk asks, and frames answers the way Kirk frames them.
The challenge was capturing expertise that lives in conversation — not in a document or a playbook. Kirk does not have a manual. He has a pattern of thinking built over three decades.
The Approach
We started with source material: recordings and transcripts of Kirk's real advisory sessions. Across those sessions, patterns emerged — how Kirk frames problems, what follow-up questions he asks, how he structures his recommendations.
We used that material to build Candor AI. The model was trained and prompted to reflect Kirk's voice and reasoning process — not just to answer questions, but to engage the way Kirk engages.
The result is a tool founders can interact with directly. They describe their situation. Candor AI responds with the same framing and questions Kirk would raise in a live session. It scales Kirk's thinking without replacing the value of a real conversation.
The Takeaway
The most valuable thing an expert owns is their pattern of thinking. That pattern is hard to scale. A book takes years. Hiring takes longer. An AI tool — built correctly — can make a practitioner's thinking available at a much larger scale.
Candor AI is not a replacement for Kirk. It is an extension of him. The value of a real conversation with Kirk still exists. But founders who are not yet at that stage now have a starting point that is actually useful.
This is what AI-readiness means for a services business: your expertise, available on demand, in your voice.
